  • - 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • - 1 large egg
  • - 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • - 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • - 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • - 1 tablespoon olive oil for frying

- For the Mushroom Gravy:

  • - 2 tablespoons butter
  • - 1 small onion sliced
  • - 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • - 2 cups beef broth
  • - 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • - 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • - 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme optional

Instructions
 

- Prepare the Hamburger Steaks:

  • - In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • - Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
  • - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • - Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes per side until browned.
  • - Remove from the skillet and set aside.

- Make the Mushroom Gravy:

  • - In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and mushrooms until softened.
  • - Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir for 1 minute to cook out the raw flour taste.
  • - Slowly add beef broth, stirring constantly, and bring to a simmer.
  • - Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer until thickened.

- Simmer the Steaks in the Gravy:

  • - Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet.
  • - Spoon gravy over the steaks and let simmer for 5-7 minutes until fully cooked.

- Serve:
