- For the Meatloaf:
- - 1 1/2 lbs ground beef 80/20
- - 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- - 1/4 cup whole milk
- - 1 large egg
- - 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- - 1 teaspoon salt
- - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- For the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:
- - 1 tablespoon olive oil
- - 1 small onion sliced
- - 1 green bell pepper sliced
- - 1/2 cup mushrooms sliced, optional
- - 1/2 teaspoon salt
- - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- - 6 slices provolone cheese
- For the Topping:
- - 1/4 cup ketchup
- - 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- - 1/2 teaspoon mustard
- Prepare the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Sauté onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using) until softened.
- Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Make the Meatloaf Mixture:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
- Assemble the Meatloaf:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Press half of the meat mixture into a loaf shape.
- Layer 3 slices of provolone cheese, followed by the cooled veggie mixture.
- Top with the remaining provolone slices.
- Cover with the remaining meat mixture, sealing the edges.
- Add the Topping & Bake:
- Mix ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard in a small bowl.
- Spread over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until fully cooked (internal temperature reaches 160°F/71°C).
